SFA Player Pathway

ESSDA have agreed to sign up to the Player Pathway as defined by SFA.
What does this mean?

Season 2008 - 2009

Under 12 (1997) have three options:
1: They can continue to play 7 a side with ESSDA for the full year
2: They can  join the 11 a side league run by Tom Wilson for the full year
3: They can play 7 aside with ESSDA until Christmas and join the 11 a side league after New Year.
All clubs will then play Eastern Region  SYFA 11 a side at Under 13.

Under 11 (1998), Under 10 (1999) and Under 9 (2000) will continue to play 7 a side with ESSDA

Under 8 (2001) will play 4 a side at central venues from August 2008.

Season 2009-2010

Under 12 (1998) will play 7 a side with ESSDA from August to December.
They will then play Development 11 a side with modified rules in SFA league from March to May.
All clubs will then play Eastern Region SYFA 11 a side at Under 13.

Under 11 (1999), Under 10 (2000) and Under 9 (2001) will continue to play 7 a side with ESSDA

Under 8 (2002) will play 4 a side at central venues.


MEETING  DATES

The next scheduled ESSDA meetings all commence 7:30pm at  the  Jewel  Miners  Club.

SEASON  DATES  2008/2009


FIRST - HALF    :  24th August 2008 - 7th December 2008

SECOND-HALF: 8th March 2009 - 21st June 2009


Edinburgh Sports Academy

The Sports Academy programme for 2008-09 includes four sports –Badminton, Cricket, Football and Mountain Biking. Our current Sports Development Officers drive these programmes together with the assistance of other high quality specialist coaches in each of the selected sports and additional experts in relation to training and other aspects of the support programme.

The Football Academy is a programme open to pupils attending City of Edinburgh Secondary Schools and is in line with the new ‘Curriculum for Excellence’ agenda for Scotland’s schools that places the emphasis on pupils creating their own personalised learning plan and reaching the highest possible levels of achievement.

Friendly Matches and Tournament Play

Tournament play and friendly matches, except between two teams within ESSDA, must have the prior permission of the association General Secretary.

Clubs are reminded that they need a permit from the SYFA to play in football festivals or tournaments.

Permission forms can be downloaded from the SYFA website www.scottishyouthfa.co.uk or by contacting the General Secretary.

Failure to get appropriate permissions may invalidate your insurance.


SPORTS  INJURIES  FIRST-AID  COURSES

These  courses  are  run  by  the  St  Andrews  Ambulance  Association,  and  can  be  arranged  either  for  individuals  or  groups  (minimum 10, maximum 15).   This  12  hour  course  costs  £45.00  per  head  inclusive  of  manual.  Are  you  interested ?
