| Futsal introduced by
ESSDA with the support of the Scottish FA last year, will again be run in
2009. The Futsal season will run from
11th of January 2009 through to the 22nd of February 2009. There will be a festival held at the
World of Football on the last weekend - 22nd of
February 2009.
The Futsal programme will be open to ESSDA teams playing 7 a side
football - Under 12s (1997), Under 11s (1998), Under 10s (1999) and Under
9s (2000). Due to limits on space, Under 8s (2001) are currently not
included in the programme.
If there is space, the event will be opened to Under 8s later.
The programme will be at Dalkeith Campus and World of Soccer, Chesser
Avenue. The Football Festival on the last day will be at World of Soccer.
The cost per team will be £40. Applications should be made before 1st
December 2008 or teams may not be accepted. We expect a heavy demand for
places.

There will be an In Service Day for coaches involved in the Futsal
Programme at Dalkeith Campus on Sunday
14th December 2008 (note change of date) from 10am to
12noon. All coaches wanting to take part are asked to contact SFA - Jen

Futsal is a great way for children to develop modern football skills
and improve their technique through the winter months. The game helps
develop fast, quick thinking , skilful players. The game is played indoors
to touchlines not walls, making players use drag backs and other skills to
utilise space. With 4v4 outfield it is the optimum number of players to
enhance skill and technique.
