Player Pathway

ESSDA is fully committed and signed up to the SFA/SYFA Player Pathway.
However, for the forthcoming season (2010/2011 First Half), ESSDA teams will continue to play ESSDA rules, in particular-

  • Throw Ins not Kick-Ins
  • Size 3 ball for 9s/10s
  • Retreating lines at all age groups
  • 2*30 minutes playing time for 11s/12s

Playing Suspensions

The following clubs are currently suspended from playing Soccer 7s with ESSDA.

  •  Dunedin BC
  •  Wardie Star

When these suspensions are lifted, this will be listed here.
Any club playing a suspended club will invalidate their insurance and will be suspended themselves.

The ESSDA General Meeting will take place tonight at The Jewel Miners Club at 7:30pm.
Previous minutes (o be approved) and Agenda are available to download.

Fixtures for the upcoming season will be distributed at the end of the meeting.

Free Advanced Player in-service

Edinburgh is hosting a coach in-service for girl’s (13s-15s) and boy’s (12s-15s) club coaches on Tuesday 31st August from 6pm-8pm @ Meggetland Sports Complex.

The evening will focus on Practical demonstrations on Creative Player, Developing Technique and Coaching in the Game with a short presentation on the programme.

The coach in-service is aimed at coaches who have talented players who can then be signed up for Edinburgh’s Scottish FA Advanced Player Development Centre. This will be an additional session for the players working towards the recommended training: games ratio in the Scottish FA developing talent programme.

Coaches should come prepared to take part in practical sessions.

 First Aid Courses

David Drummond (SFA) is running a 6-hour First Aid on Tuesday 2 and 9 November 2010 at Meggetland from 6pm to 9pm.

The cost is £20 per head.

Scottish FA 7v7 & 4v4 Workshops 2010

The Scottish FA South East Region are hosting several workshops in August to support local clubs within the Region’s Small-Sided Games Associations. Five Free workshops will be held across all local authority areas.

●Wednesday 4th August - Peffermill, Edinburgh (6.30 - 8.00pm)
●Friday 6th August - Netherdale Stadium, Galashiels (7.00 -
8.30pm)
●Wednesday 11th August - Hallhill, Dunbar (6.30 - 8.00pm)
●Monday 23rd August - Poltonhall Recreation Ground, Bonnyrigg

Clubs registering now will be for an 18 month (three season) session. Clubs will next register for the 2012 season.

Age Groups for the 2010 - 2011 ESSDA Season
12s (1999) - Soccer 7s
11s (2000) - Soccer 7s
10s (2001) - Soccer 7s
9s   (2002) - Soccer 7s
8s   (2003) - Football 4s

The cost for the extended season will be £30 per team at Soccer 7s and £20 per team for Football 4s.

Application forms are available on line, and must be returned by 30th June 2010.

General Secretary

After John Waddell took over as General Secretary at the AGM on Sunday, any emails sent to the General Secretary email address will now go to John and not Roger.

SYFA Registrations

Clubs can now join SYFA for the 2010-2011 through the SYFA website - www.syfaregistrations.co.uk
Our association East of Scotland Soccer Development Association should now appear in the drop down menu.
ESSDA membership is conditional upon all clubs being at least Associate Members of SYFA.

Remember that you only need to register once per age group for the SYFA, regardless of how many teams you have at that age group.

The ESSDA AGM took place last night. Despite the good weather, very few attended the meeting to discuss the future of the association.
