Age Groups & Football Formats 2024

For the 2024 Season the format of football will be:-

Birth Year 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017
First Half Nines 9s Soccer 7s Soccer 7s Soccer 7s Super 5s Football 4s
Second Half 11v11 Nines 9s Soccer 7s Soccer 7s Super 5s Football 4s


SEASON DATES

Registration for ESSDA and SYFA is in calendar years. The current registration period is 2024.

2024 FIRST HALF 2nd/3rd March 2024 to 8th/9th June 2024
2024 SECOND HALF 17th/18th August 2024 to 23rd/24th November 2024

Fixtures will not be published for 6th 7th April 2024 (Easter Weekend).

Requests for new teams should be made using Forms Page.


Friendly Matches and Tournament Play

Tournament play and friendly matches, except between two teams within ESSDA, must have the prior permission of the association General Secretary.
Clubs are reminded that they need a permit from the SYFA to play in football festivals or tournaments.
Permission forms can be downloaded from the SYFA website www.scottishyouthfa.co.uk or by contacting the General Secretary.
Failure to get appropriate permissions may invalidate your insurance.

Association fixtures shall only be listed and played between 1 March and 30 November inclusive each year and no matches, friendly matches included, shall be played between the second weekend in December and the second weekend in January inclusive each year without the consent of the SYFA.
Clubs will be permitted to play friendly matches indoor or participate in Festivals during this period provided they are registered with SYFA.

Teams participating at age levels 12s, 11s, 10s, 9s, 8s and 7s are not permitted to play in any Festivals or Friendly matches until they are fully registered with SYFA at the start of the year.

The above rules cover all forms of football including Futsal.

SPORTS  INJURIES  FIRST-AID  COURSES

These  courses  are  run  by  the  St  Andrews  Ambulance  Association,  and  can  be  arranged  either  for  individuals  or  groups  (minimum 10, maximum 15).  
This  12  hour  course  costs  £45.00  per  head  inclusive  of  manual.  Are  you  interested ?
